OPHTHALMOLOGY

The Taparia Insititute of Ophthalmology is premier ophthalmic institute in the country. It performs complex surgeries as phacoemulsification with foldable Intraoccular lens also known as no stitch cataract surgery. This surgery does not involve any injection; future or eye pad and patient can walk out of O.T. without any bandage and can go back with instant sight.

ONCOLOGY

The Department of Oncology, provides all the modalities of treatment, viz., Surgery, Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy, at the hands of some of the leading specialists in the field. Specialised diagnostic facilities including Fibro-optic, Bronchoscopy and Microlaryngoscopy are also provided.

During the year, 636 operations were performed in the Department, apart from numerous Cancer Surgeries which were performed in other Surgical Departments like Neuro Surgery, General Surgery, Gynaecology, etc. The Department of Radiotherapy undertook 17,077 therapic sittings and a large number of patients received Chemotherapy.

NEPHROLOGY

The Department is also supported by an AKD, A Tissue Typing facility and a Post Renal Transplant ICU, thus making it a comprehensive care centre for Uro-genetic problems.

A total of 1,626 operations were performed during the year under report, including 103 kidney transplants and 7,950 dialysis procedures, with several dialysis units working round the clock.

Besides providing routine care for Kidney disorders, the Department actively participates in working up of cases of Chronic Kidney failure for Kidney Transplant operations. For its pre-operative work up and post-operative care, the Department has the services of very well equipped Dialysis Unit and Tissue Typing Laboratory. Both these Units have also been shifted to their new location in the New Wing. During the year, a total of 624 operations were performed including 93 Kidney Transplant operations.
